985 Holt Road, Williamston, Michigan.
Wheatfield Twp. is currently working on a draft ordinance to include up to seventy 700 ft. tall wind turbines in our rural local communities. These turbines will be seen for a distance of 8 miles. They come with the dangers of health issues, devaluing of property values, potential harm to our animals, and an obvious change to our lovely landscape.
Many townships in Michigan have successfully turned away wind turbine companies to protect the health, safety and welfare of local residents.
We welcome you to voice your opinions. Comments in front of the Board & Planning Comm. are available, but limited to 3 minutes (either at the beginning or at the end of the meeting). The Board/Commission can change this rule at any time. No matter what, they will never respond to your comments. They say that they have been advised not to speak with the citizens at these public forums.
So how do you get answers to your questions?
The only way easy way to get answers is to FOIA a response. The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires our township officials to give you access to documents and information. We have provided a standard form to fill out for FOIA requests. Who do you submit the FOIA request to? Answer: A FOIA Administrator. Who is that? Who knows....? Perhaps the Clerk or Supervisor. Submit one to each. They may be emailed or dropped off at the Twp. hall. wheatfieldsupervisor@icloud.com; wheatfieldclerk@inbox.com
See the photo. Do you think Wind Turbines are a pretty sight in our lovely countryside setting?
NO SURVEY:
THE TWP. HAS DECIDED NOT TO SURVEY THE RESIDENTS. Nearby townships have been surveyed with a resounding 70+% saying NO TO WIND TURBINES.
While citizens did receive a PRO WIND TURBINE letter from Wheatfield Twp. with their recent tax bill (paid for by your tax dollars), the twp. has refused repeated citizen requests to survey residents.
Put all of your opinions in writing and mail them to the township office. Call your Board members and Planning Comm. members to voice your opinion. Watch for a citizens survey on this website to be forthcoming.
Send us a message with any questions or concerns, and we'll get back to you with answers as soon as we can.
